During an emergency, accurate information can often be very difficult to come by.  Through the LEPC, several emergency notification systems have been put in place to serve residents of Nueces and Kleberg Counties.

1. 826-INFO (4636).  This is a phone number you can call to find out more information during a significant emergency.  Please do not call 9-1-1 just for information.  9-1-1 should only be used to report an emergency or request assistance from fire, police, and EMS.

2. KLUX 89.5 FM.  During a major community emergency, 89.5 FM will begin broadcasting emergency information about the situation.  This information will come directly from local emergency management officials.

3. NOAA Alert Radio.  These radios can receive important emergency information for all types of hazards, not just weather.  There are many different makes and models, but we suggest looking for one that has Public Alert Standard (CEA-2009) and  SAME (Specific Alert Message Encoding).

4. Dialogic System.  This is a an electronic mapping and telephone system which can be used to call phone numbers within a selected geographic area and play a pre-recorded message providing important information about the emergency.

5. T.V./Radio and the Emergency Alert System.  The EAS can be used to send emergency information directly to T.V. and radio stations.  Information may be presented in the form of a screen "crawler" or program interuption.
